Some Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to call on Ralph Hasenhuttl to start Yan Valery against Chelsea, after the Austrian revealed that Cedric would be absent for the game due to injury.

The Portugal international pulled out of the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham during the warm-up, but Hasenhuttl decided to leave Valery on the bench and instead play James Ward-Prowse at right wing-back - the Englishman is a natural centre-midfielder, so that was a strange decision to say the least.

The former RB Leipzig boss caused confusion when he said that he didn't know why Cedric pulled out of the game against Spurs, with The Athletic's Southampton correspondent Carl Anka tweeting that it seemed as if the full-back made up his own mind to withdraw as soon as he got off the team bus.

In light of the manager's revelation on Cedric prior to the Chelsea game, some Southampton fans on Twitter are all saying the same thing about who the Austrian should replace him with.
