Prior to kick-off in Southampton's game against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, Ralph Hasenhuttl's teamsheet was revealed.

Interestingly, the Austrian stuck with the same starting XI that managed to pick up wins against Watford and Norwich, and one would assume that the supporters wouldn't have any arguments over that given the back-to-backs victories.

However, that assumption would be proven wrong by these Southampton supporters on Twitter, who were not happy with Hasenhuttl's decision to start Cedric once again.

Despite the win over Norwich before the trip to St James' Park, fans on Twitter weren't allowing the three points to cloud their judgement over the Portugal international's poor performance, and that ill-feeling hadn't evaporated when the lineups were revealed before the Newcastle game.

This supporter expressed their anguish over seeing Cedric's name in the starting XI in the form of an image, uploading a picture of a disappointed-looking Philippe Coutinho with his head in his hands to suggest that a similar feeling was produced by seeing the former Sporting Lisbon full-back start.

These two supporters continued the dissatisfied mood over Cedric's inclusion. One said that they would've liked to have seen the 28-year-old dropped following his poor performances of late, whereas another fan said that the right-back was the best of a bad bunch.

This fan said that the flying Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin was going to have an enjoyable time against Cedric, before going on to express their confusion at how Yan Valery - Hasenhuttl's second choice right-back - doesn't get game-time anymore.

These two supporters also name-dropped Valery when making their case against Cedric's inclusion.

One stated that the French youngster needs to up his recovery - so that he can come back and challenge the Portuguese defender, we assume - whereas another simply said that the Southampton academy graduate deserves to be starting over Cedric.

In truth, the Southampton fans' dislike of Cedric was fairly justified following the full-time whistle on Tyneside, as the right-back committed a massive five fouls against Steve Bruce's side and couldn't stop Newcastle from scoring twice to take all three points - he upended the opposition more times than any other Saints player.

In other Southampton news, the Saints may have messed up by not signing this Premier League veteran back in the summer...
