Southampton attacker Sofiane Boufal is reportedly a transfer target for both Nice and Rennes this summer.
The 24-year-old, who is valued at £10.8m by transfermarkt.co.uk, moved to St Mary’s in August 2016 off the back of a very impressive season at Lille, which had seen him score 11 Ligue 1 goals.
Boufal struggled to come to terms with Premier League football during the 2016-17 campaign, however, and also found it tough to make his mark last term.
Indeed, the attacker, who has also recently been linked with Roma, ended the 2017-18 season with just two goals and two assists in 26 Premier League appearances.
There is no question that Boufal has talent, but it seems that the majority of Southampton fans would not be too sad to see the back of him this summer.
And a number of the club’s supporters feel that the Saints already have a replacement, with Josh Sims tipped to play a bigger role under head coach Mark Hughes next season.
A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:
on Sims, thought he came across really well on the Sky Phenoms: Engalnd programme tonight. Followed him back from injury

Would we miss him so much that we’d need to replace? He barely played/contributed.

A footballer would do – obvious talent but not a team player. Not surprised it didnt work-out for #saintsfc
