The 22-year-old will become the Saints chief’s third signing from France since his arrival should Southampton make a move for the midfielder after Jeremy Pied and Sofiane Boufal joined from Nice and Lille respectively.
The powerful midfielder has impressed for Monaco so far this season, appearing in five Ligue 1 matches and both of their Champions League games against Spurs and Bayer Leverkusen – He has also scored in the Coupe de France.
Monaco are currently second in the league, just one point off leaders Nice.
