Southampton are boosted by the news Morgan Schneiderlin has shaken off a knock ahead of Saturday’s visit of West Brom to St Mary’s.
The 23-year-old French midfielder was slightly hurt in last Saturday’s goalless draw at Swansea, but he has made a swift recovery this week and is likely to be in boss Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the visit of the Baggies.
Forward Guly Do Prado, who missed the trip to the Swans because of illness, has also recovered and will look to feature in the contest. But midfielder James Ward-Prowse is likely to miss the game after suffering a knock for the Saints’ Under-21 side.
Meanwhile, Pochettino is calling on his players to finish the season strongly and also show West Brom they are a different proposition to the side that was comfortably defeated 2-0 at the Hawthorns on November 5, which left former boss Nigel Adkins’ men rooted to the foot of the table on four points from the opening 10 games.
He told the Echo: “It is really important for us finish the season well.
“We have to get the maximum number of points out of the games we have left, starting on Saturday.
“We know that the game against West Brom will be a tough one, we know they are a good side but at the same time we are on a good run of games.”
