While the 6ft 5in man impressed at the back for the South American nation, he also showed the big threat he can have in the opposition box too by becoming the first defender to score in his first three appearances at a World Cup, including the late equaliser against the Three Lions during the week.

The 23-year-old on signed for Barca during the January transfer window but struggled to make an initial impact, and he may well be loaned out this summer in order to play regularly before returning to the Camp Nou next summer.
