Barcelona defender Yerry Mina was undoubtedly one of Colombia’s standout players at the 2018 World Cup before his nation was knocked out of the tournament by England on Tuesday, and plenty of Southampton fans are keen for their club to sign the dominant centre-back.
While the 6ft 5in man impressed at the back for the South American nation, he also showed the big threat he can have in the opposition box too by becoming the first defender to score in his first three appearances at a World Cup, including the late equaliser against the Three Lions during the week.
The 23-year-old on signed for Barca during the January transfer window but struggled to make an initial impact, and he may well be loaned out this summer in order to play regularly before returning to the Camp Nou next summer.
These Southampton supporters, who may well see Mark Hughes make these two huge signings and sanction one major exit, have been quick to have their say on Mina via social media, and while one said “he’s everything we need”, another said he “could maybe teach Stephens how to win a header”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Why aren’t we going all out for Mina ffs he’s everything we need, show some ambition for once #saintsfc.

He'd be a great addition but without doubt he'd have a lot more attractive offers from bigger clubs than us. And honestly, the club signing Elyounousi was a sign of ambition for me so I don't get your opinion of the club not being or attempting to show and be ambitious
