Southampton needed a late equaliser from substitute Manolo Gabbiadini to salvage a 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor, and it was a result and performance that did nothing to lift some of the pressure off of manager Mauricio Pellegrino, even though it could be a big point come the end of the season.

Saints went into the fixture in Lancashire in the bottom three and with only one Premier League win to their name since the end of November, and the match looked to be heading for a goalless draw before Ashley Barnes netted for the hosts, before Gabbiadni came off of the bench to net the leveller.

The south coast moved up to 16th after all of the weekend's results, but Pellegrino's job is likely to be under threat whether they go down or stay up considering they have only won five of 28 top flight games so far this term.

The Argentine has come under huge scrutiny from the St Mary's crowd in recent months considering they have become used to their team competing to finish in the top eight, rather than being in and around the bottom three, in recent years.

The former Liverpool defender leaving the Saints wouldn't be positive news for everyone though, and there would certainly be some players that have been regulars under the 6ft 4in boss that would be worried and believe that they would definitely be on their way out of the club at the end of the campaign as a result

Here are three Southampton players that have no future at the club if Pellegrino goes this summer…

Steven Davis

A number of Southampton players have been nowhere near the levels they have shown in previous seasons with the club, and Davis is probably one of the biggest offenders.

The club captain has been a regular starter when fit under Pellegrino this term, despite often looking to be off the pace and not being as effective from either an attacking or defensive point of view as he has been previously.

The 33-year-old has still made 24 appearances in all competitions during the current campaign though, and if he hadn't have been injured for the trip to Burnley on Saturday and West Brom in the FA Cup previously he probably would have been involved there too.

If Pellegrino does go this summer, the new manager may decide to move Davis on – especially as he has less than 18 months left on his contract.

Shane Long

The Republic of Ireland has scored one goal for club and country in just over the last year, yet he has still been a regular in the Saints side under Pellegrino's leadership.

The Argentine boss has often preferred to use the pace and nuisance factor Long has to give opposition defences a scare, even if he hardly ever finds the net.

The 31-year-old has kept Manolo Gabbiadini and Charlie Austin out of the starting XI at different stages of the campaign, and he may well have featured even more if he wasn't suffering from injury in the past couple of matches, although Guido Carrillo has quickly become a regular starter.

If Pellegrino goes and a new man comes in, they are unlikely to be forgiving about the striker's poor goalscoring record and Long could be shown the door.

Charlie Austin

Austin has done well when he has been on the pitch during his time at St Mary's, but he has been hit by a number of long-term injury problems too including the one that has kept him on the sidelines since December that he is still making his return from.

When he was fit in November and December time he became something of a regular in the XI under Pellegrino because of his ability to score goals, and the Argentine boss clearly admired how good he was in the penalty area and with his head following his brace against Everton at the end of November.

The manager spoke about not having anyone of a similar profile to Austin prior to signing Guido Carrillo during the January transfer window, but now they have the former Monaco man, any new manager may choose to move the injury-prone Austin on and continue to keep their club-record buy in the team instead.
