Dan Sheldon of The Daily Echo has given an update on how much money it would take to convince Southampton to part ways with Jannik Vestergaard, amid interest from Leicester.

What's the word, then?

Well, The Sun broke an exclusive report revealing that Brendan Rodgers is interested in signing the Southampton defender, as he looks to bolster his centre-back options in order to aid the Foxes' Champions League push.

That story states that the 2015/16 Premier League champions are going to make a move worth £15m to sign the Denmark international, who cost Southampton £18m when signing him from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2018.

The 27-year-old has made 12 Premier League starts this term, although he has been out of the side since a 2-1 defeat to Everton on November 9th as Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens emerged as Ralph Hasenhuttl's first-choice pairing.

Vestergaard did, however, start the Saints' last outing against Crystal Palace, although that came mainly because of an injury to Bednarek.

What has Sheldon said?

Something that The Daily Echo journalist mentions that The Sun do not is the fact that Southampton want more than the £18m they spent on the Danish centre-back.

Sheldon adds that the Saints see Vestergaard as useful backup and do not need to sell.

This comes after The Daily Echo broke a story on January 9th revealing that Southampton would listen to offers for the 6 foot 6 centre-back.

It is questionable as to why Leicester want to sign Vestergaard, seeing as he is out of favour at St Mary's and was also substituted at half-time in their 9-0 win over Hasenhuttl's men back in October, at which point the Foxes were 5-0 up.

Someone's got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

Nevertheless, while The Sun's story provided plenty of information alone, Sheldon has offered an additional nugget of information that adds further weight to the transfer situation.
