Kyle Walker-Peters has been handed a potential boost after it was revealed by Paul Joyce of The Times that Sadio Mane would miss Liverpool's games against West Ham and Southampton with a small muscle tear.

Chances of a debut?

Well, Dan Sheldon of The Daily Echo revealed on Tuesday that there was a 'good chance' that Southampton would announce the signing of Walker-Peters on a loan deal from Tottenham until the end of the season.

That deal has now gone through and the 22-year-old could well make his debut against Jurgen Klopp's side, seeing as Cedric is out injured with a knee injury whereas Yan Valery also missed the last game with a viral infection that has sidelined him since November.

Southampton's website states that the Frenchman will be back training 'at the end of January' so Saturday's meeting could come too soon.

Kevin Danso - who Transfermarkt states can play at defensive-midfield or centre-back - started at right-back against Spurs, but looked far from convincing with Heung-min Son's goal coming down his side while he was also subbed off in the 70th minute.

What's so good about Mane's absence?

The Liverpool No.10 is one of the deadliest forwards in Europe, and any full-back getting ready to face him would surely be relieved if the Senegal international ended up missing the game.

Mane has made 22 appearances on the left this term, and as a result, presumably would've come up against Walker-Peters at right-back, so it will surely come as welcome news to the England U21 international that he will not have to face such a dangerous attacker on what could be his first appearance for the Saints.

Idiots Abroad: Do you know where these famous Brits are playing now?

The former Southampton attacker has 11 goals and six assists in the Premier League this term, and Walker-Peters will presumably be glad to not be facing him should he be handed his Saints debut against the Reds.

In other news, these Southampton fans were left fuming after this "embarrassing" and "disgraceful" news...
