Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has scraped speculation that he is considering leaving the Nou Camp.
The World Cup-winning playmaker is yet to pen a new deal with the La Liga champions, and is believed to be seeking a significant pay rise to do so, which has led to links with Manchester United and Manchester City.
The Premier League duo are desperate to take advantage of any uncertainty to snap up the 29-year-old – who is widely regarded as one of the finest players on the planet.
However, Iniesta has cooled talk that he is looking to move on, insisting that he is perfectly happy at Barca:
“There is nothing strange or any war going on between Barca and Iniesta. The club wants me here and I want to stay here,” he is quoted by The Express.
“I have said many times that my aim is to retire here and the club wants the same. We all want to reach an agreement.
“This has nothing to do with money or whether I am the second, third, fourth or fifth best paid player.
“What motivates me is knowing that I have some good years ahead in which I can keep improving and growing as a player.”
Iniesta has been the subject of rumours off a move to one of the Manchester clubs for some time, with the duo having a suspected long-term interest in his signature.
United are also believed to be keen on his team-0mate Cesc Fabregas, despite having offers for his services rejected over the summer.
Did City or United ever have a chance of signing Andres Iniesta?
