Spaniard puts Manchester United and Manchester City on transfer alert

Andres Iniesta (Barcelona)Manchester United and Manchester City could make stunning moves for Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Spanish superstar has recently rejected a new contract at the Nou Camp, placing his future in doubt.

The Premier League duo are both believed to be keen to add a top quality playmaker to their ranks, and have been alerted by the 29-year-old’s situation.

Iniesta believes that as a senior member of Barca’s squad his earnings should be close to those of Lionel Messi.

The La Liga champions offered a contract worth in the region of £200,000-per-week, but the figure does not meet the midfielder’s demands.

City and United would be keen to snatch him away from the Spaniards, and may be willing to offer him the salary he desires.

Barca are confident that a compromise can be reached, but the premier League duo will continue to watch the situation closely.

Inesta is widely thought of as one of the finest players on the planet, and has won just about every club and international honour available.

Alongside Xavi, he has been instrumental in Barca’s rise to become one of the top club sides in world football and has helped Spain to claim the last two European Championships as well as the 2010 World Cup.

Should Manchester United or Manchester City do all they can to sign Andres Iniesta?
