According to reports from The Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing Swansea City star Gylfi Sigurdsson as a potentially cheaper alternative to long-term transfer target Ross Barkley.

The England international has been on Spurs' radar for some time but could set the north London club back a staggering £50million this summer - double what Mauricio Pochettino's side are prepared to offer Swansea for their talismanic playmaker.

But Barkley and Sigurdsson have both enjoyed fine seasons, so Pochettino will have a real decision to make this summer with both attacking midfielders seemingly in his thoughts.

Whilst Barkley has trumped Sigurdsson in terms of chances created, successful dribbles and passing accuracy, it's the Iceland international who has proved far more potent in front of goal, netting nine and setting up 13 for his team-mates.

Spurs need a midfielder capable of unlocking doors with the ball and taking on defenders. So, Lilywhites fans, who would you swoop for this summer? Let us know by voting below...
