A Stockport County fan joined and won a bidding war targeted at Manchester United and Manchester City fans in order to auction the allegiance of Ian Charter’s son, Eddie on Ebay.
The goal was to raise money for a charity as Ian was trying to let fans from both Manchester clubs bid on which team his son will support, but the auction was overtaken and won by a Stockport fan, meaning Eddie is now a devoted fan of the sixth-tier Conference North side.
“It’ll be good for his character building,” said Ian, a Watford fan, “It’s good to support your local team.”
“I had a few messages from Stockport fans and it was only right they were added as an option,” Ian said.
“I’ve done some research and it’s only £1 to get in for children under 10 which is good and it’s just down the road. They have struggled recently but they are a big club for that league and are hopefully on the way back.”
