Stoke set to beat Arsenal & Man United to £8m hit-man

Stoke have lodged an £8m offer for long-term Manchester United and Arsenal target Paul-Georges Ntep, according to reports from The Express.

The 22-year-old only joined his current side Rennes from Auxerre over the summer and has been a revelation since stepping up from Ligue 2 to the French top tier.

Six goals in 18 league outings have led to suggestions that he may not stay put for too long, with a host of big clubs thought to be watching his situation closely.

Arsenal and United have been monitoring the youngster for a while and recent rumours have suggested that Manchester City and Chelsea are also in the hunt, but Stoke are understood to be at the front of the pack after lodging an offer.

Reports reveal that Mark Hughes is keen to get in early to beat the top sides to Ntep, and that he’s hopeful an agreement can be reached next month.

However, ‘Sparkie’ may be set for disappointment, with the striker having recently revealed that he’s keen to stay with Rennes:

“Is my priority to stay at Rennes this winter? Yes, I’m happy at Rennes.”
