The clouds have finally begun to lift above Avram Grant’s head. After supposedly being 90 minutes from unemployment last weekend, wins over relegation rivals Wigan and a bonus victory over Carling Cup holders Manchester United have gone someway to dispel the deathly atmosphere at Upton Park.
However, Grant will be making perfectly clear to his players that the task of rescuing the Hammers’ season is far from complete. Still bottom of the division, albeit on goal difference, Grant will be aware that a trip to play Sunderland is one of the more difficult tasks in the division.
Steve Bruce will have been frustrated that his Sunderland side conspired to throw a 2-1 lead away against Wolves last time out, and he will implore his side not to undo the good work of recent week with a poor result against the Hammers.
Goals aplenty, I see West Ham nicking a point to continue their unbeaten run.
