Manchester United are unrecognisable from the Sir Alex Ferguson days – it has only been 18 months or so, however, the Red Devils have backtracked so far, you’d be forgiven for thinking Fergie never existed.
The current troubles of United gaffer Louis van Gaal perhaps suggest that ol’ David Moyes wasn’t as hapless and hopeless as his brief spell at Old Trafford suggested.
The days of Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Jaap Staam et al must be all United fans asked for, for Christmas, however, they still remain stuck with relative unknowns in Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett, constantly injured Luke Shaw and the punchline to most jokes in Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
Therefore, it will come as no surprise to you readers, I’m sure, that the Red Devils have made eight defensive errors so far in 2015 – the most in the league.
What may surprise you, though, is the fact that Liverpool, with the rather wreckless defensive options of Glen Johnson, Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure, have made NONE.
