Swansea striker Wilfried Bony wants Michu to reject a potential move away from the Liberty Stadium.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a late move to Arsenal, who are believed to see him as the ideal player to save the ailing transfer plans.
Michu has proven to be a major hit since his move to the Premier League last summer, netting an astonishing 22 goals in his debut campaign.
Bony – a recent arrival in South Wales – is vying for a starting position with the silky attacker, but is hopeful that he stays:
“I have heard the talk about Arsenal. But I hope he stays because he is very important to us,” he told Sky Sports.
“He did very well last season, and this time it can be tougher because other teams know about him. But I think he can do even better because he is such a good player, with such good technique and positioning.”
In the Swans’ two games of the league campaign so far Bony has been dropped in favour of Michu.
But the Ivorian believes that if he starts alongside the versatile forward that they can strike up a good partnership:
“We have been working together and we know a little bit more every day and can be better and better with each other.
“We talk a lot off the pitch too. He has been my friend to help me feel at home at the club.”
Bony arrived at Swansea from Vitesse Arnhem this summer in a £12m deal.
Should Michu stay? And could he and Wilfried Bony become a feared partnership?
