Swansea star closing in on contract extension

Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony is expected to be rewarded for his recent run of good form with a contract extension, as reported by MailOnline.

After a highly successful debut campaign at the South Wales club which saw him score 25 goals, the Ivorian was initially displaying the symptoms of second-season syndrome at the Liberty Stadium, failing to score in the club’s opening five Premier League games and┬áreceiving a red card in a home defeat to Southampton last month.

However, Bony has emphatically proved such concerns to be unfounded in recent weeks, finding the net four times in three games – including a brace against Leicester City over the weekend – which has prompted the Swans to open discussions on a possible contract extension which would see him commit to the club beyond the summer of 2017.

There was strong interest in the Swansea striker over the summer from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, and if Bony continues to impress for Garry Monk’s side, interest may be renewed in the Ivory Coast international during the January transfer window.
