We keep hearing talk of £70million available and a push from the boardroom at Arsenal for Arsene Wenger to go out and spend it. You can be certain that he will dip into the market, as plenty of outgoings means the squad will need a number of additions. The Arsenal manager also surely understands his team’s limitations, but there are far too many players being linked with the club that should be overlooked.
This summer should be about doing something different and genuinely forcing the club forward and out of a predictable cycle. Many players linked with the club are clearly not good enough, which then further encourages the idea that second best is ok. If there is money to spend then that’s a positive for the club, but it’s very much about being smart and bringing in players who will make a genuine impact in the Premier League next season.
