A standard Premier League team is made up of eleven players; however, you will sometimes notice that one player shines more than the rest. Last year, fans voted Kevin De Bruyne the player of the season due to his diligent work as a Manchester City midfielder, but there are other players of note. Liverpool wouldn’t have gotten very far without Joel Matip, and Conor Coady captained Wolves to a steadier season than most.

So, who are the players shaping up to be the centre of attention next season? There are plenty of candidates to choose from, but these are the players you should be watching out for in 2022/23.

Brennan Johnson

Brennan Johnson has been a firm favourite on the wing for Nottingham Forest since 2019; however, this is the young player’s first time playing in the Premier League. As such, you can expect Johnson to up his game next season to compete with some of the other players on this list.

Johnson already has an impressive history going into the Premier League as he managed to score a total of nineteen goals for his club last season. What’s more, Brennan Johnson was crowned the EFL Championship’s Young Player of the Year in 2021. Anyone unfamiliar with Championship football should definitely keep an eye on this one, and it looks like Nottingham Forest has a team that is ready to stay in the Premiership for a long time to come.

Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho is an odd player to include on this list as he is yet to play a full game of professional football for the starting team. However, his performance as part of the Manchester United under-eighteen team has caught the eye of manager Erik ten Hag.

According to sources, Alejandro Garnacho is being fast-tracked to become a regular member of Man United’s starting eleven next season. It is always interesting to see how some of the best players in the league get their start, and that may be what happens with Garnacho this year.

Gabriel Jesus

Sometimes, players need a fresh start to do something great, and that is exactly what forward, Gabriel Jesus, is getting with Arsenal next year. The Gunners paid £45million for the Brazilian striker, and it seems that the team’s faith is well placed.

Jesus managed to score eight goals last season for Manchester City and helped carry them to the top of the league. However, this total is a far cry from his twenty-three goals the previous season. While Gabriel Jesus is still a great commodity to any team, let’s hope Mikel Arteta can help the forward regain some of this past glory. The only way to find out if he is successful is by keeping a close eye on Gabriel Jesus.

Ben Chilwell

At twenty-five years of age, fans should know what they are getting with the Chelsea defender. Chilwell was successful in deterring attacking players last season, and he did so while also bagging himself seven goals throughout the season.

It seems that the Englishman still has plenty more to give his team, and the upcoming season will determine whether Ben Chilwell will become a legend for the club. Chelsea has a history of producing top mainstays for the England team, such as Lampard and Terry, but now it looks like it is Chilwell’s turn in the spotlight. Include him in your fantasy football league and you won’t be disappointed. You can head to Online Casinos to find out all the latest reviews and ratings for certain betting sites if that is how you would like to enhance your football viewing experience and bet on Chilwell’s performance.

Kalvin Phillips

Manchester City may have lost Gabriel Jesus, but that does not mean that you should count them out. A big club like this doesn’t like to be lacking in talent, which is why the team procured English midfielder, Kalvin Phillips, for £42million during the transfer season.

Kalvin Phillips was brought over from Leeds United, a mid-table team that finished quite respectably in tenth place last season. That triumph was only achievable thanks to Phillips’ efforts on the pitch, so it is no wonder he caught the eye of a huge club like Man City. This season is the player’s first for the biggest team in the country, so it is a real sink-or-swim moment for the Englishman. Manchester City wouldn’t spend that much money on a midfielder if they had any doubts, which makes Kalvin Phillips a great new candidate to watch in 2022/23.

Jose’ Sa

Not all success is won by scoring goals. Every team needs someone to protect their net, and Jose’ Sa is one of the best goalkeepers in the league. The Wolverhampton keeper only managed to concede ten goals last season, which is a feat often coveted by every goalkeeper in the league. Sadly, Wolves could not capitalise on Jose’ Sa’s efforts as they finished in the bottom half of the table in the 21/22 season. However, Sa is only young so it is likely that he can repeat last season’s run.

Mohamed Salah

It would be dangerous to compile a list of players to watch next season without mentioning the previous EPL Player of the year. Mohamed Salah managed to procure this accolade after his heroic season with Liverpool. The forward managed to score twenty-three goals for his team in only thirty-eight games to become the second top goal scorer of the season.

Unfortunately, it looks like football fans will have to look elsewhere to watch the Egyptian play again, as Salah is rumoured to be leaving Liverpool during this current transfer window. The player has stated that he is happy to move to a rival club if Liverpool does not meet his pay demands, and the pair have been in a deadlock over the last couple of weeks. With bids of over £41million coming in for the young striker, it seems that Liverpool will be without Salah for the next season. However, you can be sure that he will put on an excellent performance wherever he ends up.

The new football season isn’t too far away now, so make sure you get yourself ready. These are the players that you should watch right now, but you never know how the season will shape up.
