The ‘Dream Liverpool XI’ that could see them challenge

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers looks set to be preparing for a busy summer of transfer movement both in and out of the club, with reports that his transfer budget may not be the largest in living memory a direct consequence of the Merseyside outfit’s debt rising in the past year and the heavy investment made during the January transfer window.

With that in mind, he will have to be clever in the market in trying to address the team’s needs even after he has shipped out some of the deadwood such as Andy Carroll, Jay Spearing and Oussama Assaidi, while the future of Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates will be a source of much debate.

The Premier League top four looks to be the main achievement next term given that the side look certain to miss out on a European spot this year, but which players will he need to bring in to make that concerted push a successful one? And what will the starting eleven need to look like in order for them to seriously compete?
