It is safe to say that looking back at some of the signings which have been made over the past few seasons, Liverpool‘s transfer track record does not make for pretty reading. Andy Carroll for over £30million, Stewart Downing for £20million and Jordan Henderson for a similar price.
Having appointed Northern Irish manager Brendan Rodgers from Swansea last season there was certainly a sense of relief that the end of huge transfer fees for relatively average Premier League players was in sight and that stability would be installed at Anfield.
