Seriously, what do Arsenal’s medical team do?
In recent seasons, Arsene Wenger’s squad’s injury list has been incredibly high, however, this season has taken the biscuit! In the Gunners’ midweek clash with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, their 2-0 victory over the Bundesliga side came at a cost with Mikel Arteta and Yaya Sanogo having to be substituted through injury. Furthermore, earlier this week Jack Wilshere was ruled out for several months following ankle surgery after Manchester United’s Paddy McNair’s tackle on the England international.
So, there was a sense of inevitability that against West Bromwich Albion, Arsenal would face an injury or two. And it didn’t take long for Nacho Monreal to join the likes Mathieu Debuchy, Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott on the sidelines, when he was replaced halfway through the first-half by Kieran Gibbs – probably a substitute Arsenal fans were pleased to see!
