The last of Aston Villa’s problems…

Tim Sherwood was the assistant coach at Tottenham Hotspur under Harry Redknapp and Andre Villas Boas.

When Andre Villas Boas was sacked in 2013, Tottenham decided to appoint Sherwood as first team coach and awarded him an 18-month contract. During his spell at Tottenham, Sherwood guided Spurs to a decent record of 13 wins, 3 draws, and 6 losses.

This record allows Sherwood to boast an impressive Premier League winning percentage of 59%. The impressive stat would be welcomed at most clubs.

On February 14th, Aston Villa unveiled Tim Sherwood as manager. Although his debut in charge of Aston Villa is yet to occur, he did make a halftime appearance during the FA Cup tie against Leicester City to give a team talk.

Whether or not this talk resulted in the 2-1 victory, it did not hurt the winning reputation that Sherwood does not let anyone forget. Aston Villa seemed to have a lot of problems this season but hiring a manager with a glowing winning percentage was not one of them…
