Uefa’s Financial Fair Play isn’t the only thing restricting clubs from spending heavily on transfers: the economic problems in Europe will also have it’s say on how football club conduct their business in the future.

The £15 million-plus signings may be a little too far out of reach for most clubs in the Premier League, as well as those in La Liga, for example. But this summer’s free agent list looks to be a promising variety of talent for those shopping on a shoestring budget.

There’s not always a great deal of excitement that goes into picking up a player on a free; a significant price-tag usually indicates that there is a lot to offer from any new arrival (at least in most cases.)

But using free agency can bring many positives, such as impressive centre-backs and Italian legends. Many of the Premier League’s clubs—including those at the top of the mountain—should be able to find a few positive’s in this summer’s list of free agents.
