The front three. A much discussed topic, is the front three.

A new trend in English football has seen clubs move away from the traditional two banks of four and two up top and start to experiment with new and interesting formations. Football evolves constantly, and those that are ahead of the curve don't stay at the top of the innovation tree for long as everyone else catches up.

One of the biggest trends of the past five or ten years involves having three attacking players in a similar area. Thus the birth of the attacking trio, we have seen great trios throughout history at some of the biggest clubs in the world. This list is going to have a look at what could be the top five hottest trios in world football next season.

Did we leave your favourite attacking trio of the list? How about commenting and letting us know who they are and why they deserve a place?

5. Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan & Rooney

Rooney Zlatan Mkhitaryan

Although we haven't seen the 2 new United boys together, there is a lot of interest around how everything is going to work out at Old Trafford.

However, given the sheer amount of goals scored and assisted by the 3 last season domestically we can surely expect fireworks.

There are question marks as to how Mkhitaryan & Zlatan will adapt to the physicality of the Premier League but given Rooney's experience you would expect them to settle in a little bit easier.

4. Sanchez, Cazorla & Ozil

Arsene Wenger has come under much criticism for his lack of movement in various transfer windows.

However, it is hard to argue the case when you have the eye for talent like Arsene has. Since joining the Premier League Wenger has seen this charismatic forward thinking three really begin to gel and play some special football.

After picking up Santi Cazorla from a financial mess at Malaga, he went and got Sanchez & Ozil from some of the jewels of world football.

Sanchez, Cazorla and Ozil will be hoping that they can push Arsenal on to a title that they, and their French manager deserve.

3. Lewandowski, Muller & Douglas Costa

Thomas Muller is doing his best to put himself in the Bayern hall of fame after taking the route through the academy to the first team.

Robert Lewandowski was signed from title rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. Douglas Costa was signed for a a fee of £25m. The three of these on the same pitch only spells disaster to anyone coming up against them.

Lewandowski and Muller had established themselves in the Bayern team before last season but with Costa being a new signing, it was largely expected that he would be a squad player.

After having a big impact on the team since joining, Costa has been hugely influential and has been putting the ball into good areas for the Pole and the German to attack.

Muller's role makes him hard to mark which opens up lots of space for Lewandowski to do his thing: score lots of goals.

2. Bale, Benzema & Ronaldo

The Galacticos carry on with their method of signing the best of the best and as a result line up with Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema & Cristiano Ronaldo up front: The BBC.

There is a frightening amount of goals stored between the three of them and you'd hate to be a defender at any level against these guys.

After good Euros with their national teams Bale & Ronaldo will be feeling fit and ready for the start of the season, and after Benzema was left out of the France squad at a home tournament, he will have a point to prove.

1. Messi, Suarez & Neymar

Arsenal v FC Barcelona - UEFA Champions League Round of 16 First Leg

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez & Neymar. Or MSN as they've become known over the last year. The South American front 3 have been a danger for any opposition and after a Champions League win in their first year together they have come on leaps and bounds.

Between them in 150 games they scored 131 goals and got 65 assists in all competitions. Messi got the most assists with 23 and Suarez grabbed himself 59 goals. They are considered royalty in the game currently and are the envy of every club in the Spanish top division.
