Left Wing – David Silva

I found the form of Manchester City’s David Silva incredibly disappointing last season as the Etihad side produced a rather stale Premier League title defence.

But the Spain international has bounced back this year, relishing in his new-found left midfield role to rack up five goals and eight assists in 20 Premier League starts.

Much more than the 28 year-old’s prominent output however, it’s the way he can control and conduct the flow of the match, even from a wide position, that I find most inspiring.

The Spaniard rarely loses the ball in the middle of the park, and the vast majority of what the Citizens conjure up in attack passes through him first. He’s averaged 3.5 key passes per match this season – the best rate in the entire Premier League.
