Arsenal are renowned for their ability to make it out of the Champions League group stage. Their form in this year’s competition has been inconsistent, at best, but the Gunners have it all in their own hands going into matchday 6.
Wenger’s men have seen a dip in form of late, coinciding with an injury crisis, but Olympiakos should be far too weak for the Gunners if they can find their best form.
Here are three stats that prove Arsenal can make it to the CL last 16:
1. Defensive Solidity: The Gunners have conceded the third least goals in the Premier League. Despite their inconsistent performances in the Champions League, if Arsenal’s back line can find their domestic form tonight, they should be able to keep the Olympiakos attack at bay.
2. Weak Olympiakos attack: The Greek side only managed to get four shots off in the return game earlier this season. This is probably a suggestion that it is not too hard to stunt the creative threat from the Greek side.
3. Creative genius: Arsenal, in Mesut Ozil, have the greatest creator in the Premier League at the moment. On a night when the Gunners needs goals, Ozil’s perfect passing and intelligent movement is exactly what Arsene Wenger needs to get his side into the last 16.
