Three things we’ve learnt from Man City’s Champions League failure

Sergio Aguero needs a better strike partner

As always, the Man City gaffer opted for two strikers with Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic leading the line. However, at half-time Pellegrini hauled off Stevan Jovetic and brought on Samir Nasri which saw a formational change. The lack of faith shown in Edin Dzeko to replace Jovetic highlights their shortcomings to partner the Argentine international.

Man City lack discipline

The Premier League champions lost their heads at the Etihad tonight, finishing the game with nine men after Yaya Toure and Fernandinho were shown red cards. In truth, City could’ve – and probably should’ve – lost Samir Nasri, too.

Premier League not the strongest league

This isn’t really one just for City, however, following Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City’s struggles this week – with Liverpool the only side to face a side they weren’t expected to beat – questions have to be raised over whether the Premier League is the best league in the world?!
