Time to pray – Man City’s dodgy defender in chief starts again

Eliaquim Mangala returns to the starting line-up for today’s Barclays Premier League game with West Ham United. Manchester City manager will be hoping to see some better form than the man that cost him £32m has offered up thus far.

If Mangala does not produce the goods today, and City lose, Pellegrini may out the exit door sooner than the summer departure that many have predicted. However, with Vincent Kompany so off-colour for much of the season, his replacement won’t have to do a lot to eclipse the club captain.

Here’s how fans on Twitter reacted to Mangala getting the nod:

Man City haven’t lost three Premier League games in a single month since November 2008 but they have already lost two April this season. However, West Ham are not in a much better moment and have lost seven points from goals scored in the 90th minute (and injury time) this season, more than any other team.
