Tottenham and Man City dealt transfer blow

Stephan El ShaarawyAC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has moved to quash rumours that Stephan El Shaarawy will be leaving the San Siro amid interest from Tottenham and Manchester City.

The Premier League duo have both been linked with the Italian international of late, and have been buoyed by claims that the attacker is not guaranteed a starting berth.

Despite being a key part of the Serie A giants’ first-team last season, manager Massimiliano Allegri has opted to use the 20-year-old sparingly so far this term.

As one of the top talents in European football El Shaarawy is not short of admirers, with both Spurs and City said to be pondering January swoops.

However, Galliani has insisted that the forward is still a key man at Milan and that he is fully committed to the club.

“I’d like to remind people that if we are in the Champions League, then part of the credit goes to El Shaarawy,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.

“He is only 20 years old and flew up the ranking, so growing up that quickly is difficult. Our judgement on him is absolutely positive, he has a five-year contract and we believe in him.

“He showed how much he cares about the club colours, because over the summer he could’ve moved to a team that was prepared to triple his wages.”

Both Andre Villas-Boas and Manuel Pellegrini are believed to be big fans of El Shaarawy and will monitor the situation with a view to taking advantage of any unrest.
