Tottenham and Man City track Benfica ace

Benfica Forward Eduardo SalvioBenfica’s Argentine forward Eduardo Salvio is being tracked by both Tottenham and Manchester City according to talkSPORT.

Both clubs are desperate to strengthen their attacking options for the new Premier League campaign and the South American player has all the attributes needed to make an impact for either team.

Tottenham are in need of a player who can play both on the right wing and be called upon as a centre forward when needed. Manchester City, after selling both Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez in recent months has one if not two vacancies in forward positions. The pacey player would be a great addition to either team.

Common with many Iberian clubs, Benfica have imposed a minimum fee release clause of €52million into Salvio’s contract  but Portuguese paper A Bola claim any bid in the region of €15million may be enough to prise him away from the Lisbon club. The 23-year-old was an integral part of a Benfica team who finished runners up to rivals Porto in the Portuguese Liga Sagres, scoring 12 goals.

Since moving to Europe in 2010 from Lanus, he has represented his country on five occasions. He was originally signed by Atletico Madrid who opted to loan him to Benfica. After a string of impressive performances he remained in Portugal until the present day but that chapter of his career may be coming to an end if Andre Villas-Boas or Manuel Pellegrini has their way.
