Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle have been told that they will have to meet Pecks’ £8m release clause if they are to lure the Cape Verdean defender away from Gil Vicente, according to reports from The Mirror.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the finest talents in the Portuguese top flight of late with a series of commanding performances.
Naturally, interest in his signature has spiked, with a number of top European clubs believed to be monitoring his situation.
Spurs, City and Newcastle are all keen, but have been told by Gil Vicente president Antonio Fiusa that Pecks will not be sold for any less than £8m.
“The player has a contract until 2017 and we do not have to sell at an inferior price,” Fiusa said.
City are believed to the most interested of the three Premier League clubs, with Manuel Pellegrini rumoured to have had scouts monitoring the youngster.
Spurs and Newcastle are also interested, and could move if their rivals make a serious offer.
Pecks – who has only one senior international cap to his name – has been compared to City captain Vincent Kompany thanks to his athletic style of play and reading of the game.
