Tottenham & Arsenal target staying, says Southampton boss

Ronald Koeman has once again insisted that Morgan Schneiderlin is not exiting Southampton.

The 24-year-old midfielder is understood to have requested to leave the Saints in the past few weeks amid a flurry of big name departures and has been attracting attention from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Talk of a move away from the South Coast intensified last weekend when the Frenchman was left out of Koeman’s squad for their friendly with Bayer Leverkusen, leading to rumours of £20m+ bids from north London before the transfer window closes.

However the St Mary’s Stadium chief says that he’s in line to feature against Liverpool on Sunday coincidentally the team Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren were sold to – and that he is not for sale:

“He had a very good week of training sessions,” he is quoted by Sky Sports. “We know the situation.

“Last week he wasn’t in shape to play, he had a very good week of sessions and that decision will be taken tomorrow – he is not for sale.”

Southampton have sold five key first-team players from last term this summer, with the now Liverpool trio joined by Callum Chambers and Luke Shaw in the club’s exodus.
