Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed his delight after overcoming Newcastle United 4-0 to book a place in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup, Skysports reports.
His side will now face a tough Sheffield United, which proved victorious over Southampton with a 1-0 win the night before as both teams move closer to the finals.
Goals from Nabil Bentaleb, Nacer Chadli, Harry Kane, and Roberto Soldado got the job done with Pochettino praising their improvement as he vows to take the competition seriously.
“We need time to improve and stamp our philosophy,” he said. “The players need time to change this mentality, but we are playing the right way.
“This competition is important for us and now we’re through to the semi-final although we will be playing a very tough team in Sheffield (United).
“Last night they showed their quality (in beating Southampton). We will face Sheffield and try to play well over the two games.”
