The future of Toby Alderweireld has been hanging in the balance for quite some time at Tottenham and the release clause within his current deal appears to be giving supporters plenty of cause for concern.

Indeed, the Spurs fans have turned out in their numbers on Twitter to call for him to put pen to paper on a fresh contract in the coming months, with fears over a summer departure beginning to increase.

The terms of the most recent extension produced a bizarre set of conflicting emotions, but it's fair to say the signing of a new contract with no release clause would be met with resounding enthusiasm amongst the Lilywhites faithful.
