Rafael Van der Vaart spent two years with Tottenham Hotspur between 2010 and 2012, and it would be fair to say that the Dutchman made an impression on the club's supporters.

The midfielder scored 28 goals in 77 appearances for Spurs - hitting double figures in each of his two full seasons with the capital club, which is some going for a player that was new to English football.

The Dutchman left Tottenham for Hamburger SV in 2012, and after a spell at Real Betis, joined FC Midtjylland, who he still represents.

At the age of 34, there is still some football left in the legs of Van der Vaart.

On Monday, Tottenham's official Twitter account posted quotes from the former Netherlands international where he discussed returning to the club for the recent Champions League game against Real Madrid.

Van der Vaart claimed that it was like 'going home', and as expected, a number of Tottenham fans were on hand to pay tribute to the classy midfielder, who really should have spent more time in the Premier League.
