Tottenham Hotspur fans were delighted to read DeAndre Yedlin’s name on the substitutes bench when the team news was announced for their clash with Aston Villa.
Yedlin was signed by Mauricio Pochettino towards the end of last December, however, he didn’t officially join up with his team-mates a month or so later due to Seattle Sounders wanting to hold onto his services for the remainder of the Major League Soccer campaign.
The American international has been highly thought of back in his home country, however, the rest of the footballing world didn’t know much – or anything at all – about the right-back until last summer’s World Cup.
Yedlin’s rapid pace and nonstop work ethic brought about rave reviews and a move to Europe was tipped off the back of those performances.
The USA international has been made to wait a long time for his Lilywhites debut but it may well come today which Tottenham fans are delighted about.
@SpursOfficial Bring Yedlin on in the 1st minute please
