Dele Alli has done it again. Everyone’s favourite waving, goalscoring teenager with a dodgy fashion sense has scored the first goal of Tuesday night’s Premier League action – and there’s quite a lot of Tuesday night Premier League action!
But Dele Alli’s goalscoring prowess is what’s overshadowing all of the fun being had at his expense, however endearing it is.
No, Alli is fast becoming England’s great big hope for the future. How many of them there have been: Ross Barkley, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling? Alli is quietly passing all of them.
7 – Dele Alli has now scored as many career Premier League goals as Jack Wilshere. Rivals.

Tonight was the night where Alli matched Jack Wilshere’s goal tally in the Premier League. Wilshere is an established Premier League midfielder and this is Alli’s first season in the top flight, but that’s not the only reason why this is a significant milestone – it’s also so that Spurs fans can rub it in the noses of Arsenal fans. After all, Spurs are now one of the Premier League teams to beat this season, and the form of the likes of Dele is one of the reasons why.
But Arsenal fans will always point to quality over quantity. Remember Alli’s goal against Crystal Palace only a few weeks ago? Of course you do! Well, was it better than this beauty from Wilshere?
Or should we all stop bickering and start embracing the fact that the English national team may well have a golden generation coming through who can all pitch in with some super play?
