Throughout the season, Toby Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been a major talking point.
The defender is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract, which has led many to suggest that he is on his way out of the door.
According to a recent report in The Sun, Chelsea are preparing a summer swoop for the centre-back, who the newspaper claims is rated at round £45m.
Alderweireld, who has been part of the North London outfit since 2015 when he made the move from Atletico Madrid, has one year left on his current contract.
At the moment, the media are focusing on Chelsea’s alleged interest, but Goal.com’s Manchester City correspondent Sam Lee has claimed that Manchester United could potentially win the race for the centre-back.
As far as I know City aren’t looking for a centre-back this summer. Maybe I’ve not been given the full story but that’s what I’ve heard. My guess is he’ll go to United, they are in for him

Tottenham sold one of their defenders to a Manchester club last season as Kyle Walker made the switch to Manchester City.
Understandably, Tottenham fans would not be too happy if Alderweireld ended up at Old Trafford.
