Aston Villa launch ambitious approach for Spurs ace

According to reports from Express and Star and The Birmingham Mail’s Live Blog (see 09.55) Aston Villa have made an enquiry to sign Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier on a season-long loan.

Roberto Di Matteo has already utilised Alan Hutton, Micah Richards and Leandro Bacuna at no.2 this season with none proving particularly worthy of taking the role permanently.

And it appears that has convinced the Villa gaffer to turn his attentions to the Spurs starlet, who moved to White Hart Lane from Burnley at the start of last season.

But the 25-year-old made just six Premier League appearances last term, serving as Kyle Walker’s understudy, and now faces further competition for a starting berth from DeAndre Yedlin – who has returned from a year-long loan at Sunderland.

The Championship outfit have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Trippier on a season-long loan, but it appears they’re still awaiting a response from Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
