Attacking ace ready to quit Spurs as problems mount

Andros Townsend is seriously considering requesting a move away from Spurs after growing frustrated with his status at the club and falling out with fitness coach Nathan Gardener, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The England international is understood to have tangled with Gardener after a heated exchange as he, and fellow unused substitutes, warmed down following the club’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Monday night.

Although the nature of the scuffle is not truly known, Townsend has grown discontented at White Hart Lane with manager Mauricio Pochettino having consistently overlooked him this term.

Reports claim that things have got so bad for the 24-year-old that he’s considering a asking to leave ahead of the looming winter transfer window in a bid to get his career back on track.

Townsend is yet to start a league match this season and is aware that with EURO 2016 on the horizon he must be playing regularly if he’s to feature in Roy Hodgson’s plans for the tournament in France.

Townsend attracted interest from Aston Villa, Southampton, Newcastle and Sunderland through the last transfer window, but none of the quartet matched the £12m asking price set by chairman Daniel Levy.
