Tottenham are on the hunt for more attacking firepower this summer, and their latest target may just be their next fan favourite – Roma winger Cengiz Under.

What's the story?

According to one major Turkish outlet, Tottenham are set to rival Manchester City for the signing of Under.

Roma have just received a huge lump of cash from Liverpool for the sale of Alisson Becker, and they look set to splash part of that almost immediately on Brazilian winger Malcom.

The report claims Roma will ask for €35m (around £31m) for their Turkish wonderkid, which would be worth every penny if he has a similar impact in North London as he has in Rome.

The one thing Mauricio Pochettino has been unable to do since arriving at Tottenham is find a suitable backup for Harry Kane. It’s almost impossible to find a player happy to play second fiddle to the talisman, but also good enough to make a genuine impact when called upon, which is perhaps why the boss has decided to instead cram loads of versatile talent behind the striker.

Lucas Moura joined Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Heung-min Son in January, and adding Under would give Pochettino the best array of attacking flair and talent of any manager in the league.

What's all the fuss about?

The 21 year-old joined Roma last summer after scoring nine and assisting seven as a teenager for Turkish side Basaksehir. He didn’t slow down in Rome either, grabbing seven Serie A goals from the wing and his first ever Champions League goal.

He can play on either wing, shoots incredible powerfully with both feet, loves humiliating defenders with unnecessary bits of skill, and has quite a mean streak in him as well. Basically, he’s all the best bits of Lamela and Son put together.

Perhaps Under’s standout trait is his crossing, and the thought of both he and Kieran Trippier bombing down the right flank and firing balls in towards Kane is certainly an enticing one.

One area the youngster needs to improve is his defensive contribution, as he tends to go missing from time to time when his team needs him. At 21 this is a crease that can be easily ironed out though, especially under a manager like Pochettino.

Under has all the pace, tricks and end product to be a huge hit in the Premier League. He is direct, hungry, and his versatility will appeal to Pochettino. With all these traits at just 21, the Turkish wonderkid could be a cult hero in North London, and a superstar in the making.
