In an exclusive reported by The Times, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Tottenham Hotspur’s talented England international Eric Dier.
Dier is one of the brightest English talents in the Premier League and he could be on the move to protect his status Gareth Southgate’s national set-up according to reports.
The Times reckon that Dier is unhappy with his playing time at Spurs this season and that Chelsea and Bayern Munich are ready to swoop in and give him an escape route should he become available.
The versatile defender/midfielder has of course played abroad before, starting his career coming through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon before coming back to his country of birth at the age of 20.
Dier was almost ever present in Southgate’s Tottenham side last season, playing a massive 51 games. This season he’s played a little less, starting 11 of Spurs’ 15 Premier League games.
That’s still a lot of games so we’re unsure if his playing time is a factor in his happiness under Pochettino. Given The Times have put their name to an exclusive on his situation though, perhaps Dier is hoping to be one of the first name on the Argentinian manager’s teamsheet.
It’s not surprise Chelsea and Bayern are circling, Dier was one of England’s best players in a less than stellar 2016 for the national team and has the ability to play through the spine of most top clubs in Europe.
