Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has stated that he is hoping Leicester City beat Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the Premier League title.
Leicester dropped two points over the weekend when they only managed a 2-2 draw against West Ham United at the King Power Stadium, with Spurs closing the gap at the top of the table to just five following an impressive 4-0 rout at Stoke City.
However, Blues midfielder Fabregas, who won the title last term under Jose Mourinho, is confident that the Foxes will complete the ultimate underdog story by pipping the Lilywhites as the new champions of England.
“I think Spurs are pushing as hard as they can to get as close to them as possible,” he said live on Sky Sports (via The Mirror).
“But I think Leicester will win it and deservedly so.”
Asked if there could be another twist in the season, the Spain international replied: “Hopefully not! I don’t want Spurs to win it!
“For what has happened through the season, I would love Leicester to win the Premier League.”
The comment seems to be a sly dig at Spurs, with the 28-year-old having captained Arsenal before he left the English top flight for Barcelona in 2011.
Tottenham host West Bromwich Albion in their next league fixture, while Leicester will try to keep their five-point lead intact at home to Swansea City.
