Andre Villas-Boas has paid tribute to Clint Dempsey after his crucial contribution in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Stoke City.
The American star scored the equaliser and then set up Emmanuel Adebayor for the winner at the Britannia Stadium to keep alive the club’s hopes of landing a top-four place this season.
The 30-year-old has now hit seven goals this season following his deadline-day move from Fulham and AVB is well aware just how important a member of his squad the experienced frontman is.
“It was an amazing game from Clint Dempsey. He has the instincts of a deadly striker,” Villas-Boas told talksport. “Today he scored and assisted Emmanuel Adebayor for his goal. It was a great performance by him. He is a player who deserves a lot of credit.”
Dempsey himself was pleased with his contribution and is clearly enjoying his time at White Hart Lane.
“You always want to be a player that chips in with goals and assists,” he said. “I’m glad I’ve scored some important goals this season and a few assists as well.”
