The Argentina-born Italy international, who did not claim a place in Antonio Conte’s Euro 2016 squad, has emerged as one of the top attacking midfielders in Serie A since Palermo’s promotion from the second tier in summer 2014.
Indeed, the 27-year-old finished the following season with the most assists of any player in the Italian top flight and last term produced an impressive haul of eight assists and seven goals in 36 Serie A appearances.
Mirror Football reported last week that Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in the former Belgrano star, whilst Serie A outfits AC Milan and Fiorentina are also interested.
And Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has now confirmed that the Lilywhites have been in contact over a potential deal for Vazquez – who he values at just shy of £20million.
He told Gianluca Di Marzio; “I’m in contact with Tottenham for Vazquez and I requested €25million (£19.6million) for him. I received some lower offers for Vazquez.”
