Controversial Spurs star ‘can’t wait’ to prove himself

Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that he “can’t wait” to return to Spurs for pre-season training and that he’s ready to show his “passion” for the London club.

The Togolese striker has been a divisive character during his spell at White Hart Lane, with his vast wages and perceived lack of work-rate having made him an unpopular figure with many fans despite his proven talent through the years.

‘Ade’ netted just twice in 17 matches for the Lilywhites last term and was linked with a winter move to West Ham, which led may to conclude that he would not be in North London by the start of 2015/16.

However, even though there have been reports that Spurs want rid of the African ace, Adebayor took to Twitter after netting for his nation against Liberia to reveal that he’s looking forward to another season at Tottenham:

“Feeling really fresh after my goal. Can’t wait to come back to Tottenham and show everyone the passion I have for the club. Looking forward to pre-season!”

Adebayor, 31, is rumoured to be on wages of over £100,000-per-week at ‘The Lane’, but is currently behind the likes of Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado in Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order.
