Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has suggested that the club look to sign West Ham United defender Issa Diop, and the Frenchman and Davinson Sanchez would be the future of Spurs.

What did he say?

Well, speaking to Football Insider about potential Premier League centre-backs the north London outfit should target with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld both out of contract at the end of the season, the former England international said:

"Obviously listen if they could get him in from West Ham, Diop. That's not a bad shout."

Football Insider reported previously that Tottenham were interested in Wolves' Willy Boly, but it appears as though the former Spurs attacker believes Diop may be a better option.

A decent signing

He is only 22 years of age, but there is no doubt that the young Frenchman has made a big impression for the Hammers.

The former Toulouse man has established himself as Manuel Pellegrini's first-choice centre-back at the London Stadium, with either Fabian Balbuena or Angelo Ogbonna partnering him at the heart of the backline over the course of the last 12 months or so.

He has certainly won plenty of praise for his performances from the fans, and picked up a 9/10 rating from Football London for his display in his side's 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in April.

The tall defender certainly has something in his locker, and if Vertonghen and Alderweireld are to leave this summer and Spurs pulled off what would be a controversial move given West Ham are one of their arch-rivals, you wouldn't bet against him and the 23-year-old Sanchez being the centre-back future for the north London side.
