Tottenham Hotspur announced themselves as title contenders with a 2-0 win over leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
An Aleksandar Kolarov own goal and a cool Dele Alli strike ensured Spurs won all three points as they dominated Pep Guardiola’s side.
A number of pundits and fans feel more performances like this will lead to silverware at White Hart Lane, with former manager and director of football David Pleat heaping praise on The Lilywhites.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Pleat said: “If Spurs can keep this kind of football going throughout the season, it will give them a great chance of challenging for the title.”
Spurs are unbeaten this season and lie just one point behind City as we head into the international break.
They lost star striker Harry Kane to injury against Sunderland last month but appear to be coping well with players like Heung-Min Son stepping up in his absence.
The Korean has scored five goals for the North London side this season and managed to set up Alli’s goal in the win.
Spurs are looking to improve on last term’s third-place finish.
